The minting of the 20 lire gold coins under Umberto I changed from previous rulers, the official mint authorized to mint them was only the Roman one and finally the reliefs and edge were suitable for circulation; it was minted between 1879 and 1897.

The head of King Umberto I facing left with the date below the neck and the name of the engraver in the neck cut-out
Reverse side
Crowned coat of arms of Savoy decorated with the Annunciation collar and value on both sides, the whole surrounded by a crown consisting of a laurel branch and one oak.
The crowned shield depicts an Italian star. The mint mark is located below the crown on the right.
